About the Network
The History of Archaeology Network was established in 2010 at the UCL Institute of Archaeology. The Network Coordinator is Amara Thornton; and helping to run the network is Clare Lewis.
The Institute holds a large collection of archaeological archives from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many of which relate to British archaeologists working in the Middle East during that period. The Network promotes the value of these archives and archaeological archives in other collections for interdisciplinary research and public engagement. It fosters a welcoming community of people interested in the history of archaeology in any period from any angle.
It also actively seeks to collaborate with institutions, organisations or people holding archives related to the history of archaeology, as well as researchers, archivists, curators or enthusiasts of any discipline who are interested in the history of archaeology.
The Network regularly runs events through the winter and spring, open to all.
